  • REMINDER! Read!

Posted by Lady Periphaeria on September 21, 2008

I ask that ALL of you read this and comment to confirm that you have read this post!

(This post is stickified so you need to scroll down a bit to see other entries.)

As our Read Me! page states about Image Rules:

    1. Use your own photo host.

SAT blog has its own upload quota on WordPress servers, but as it would run out quite fast it is fair that NONE of us uses it. (It may be used for administrative purposes by the admin, that is myself, but that’s all.)
Net is filled with free photohosting services, the left side bar has links to few, but you can find dozens of them just by using Google – or ask from your friends! 🙂

    2. Use linking thumbnails (How-to is in the end of the page) or pictures smaller than 400×400.

I will check the upload folder every once in a while and if there is any uploads they will be deleted without prior notification. This applies also to BIG pictures which break the blog’s layout.

From now on I won’t leave any deletion messages to posts I remove images from because they are hosted in our WP account or because they are otherwise against the rules, I will just delete them.

PLEASE use your own photohost, left sidebar has few good and free hosts (I can personally recommend former Twango, current Ovi), I also provide image hotlinking tutorial in the Read Me! and honestly I can say that once you get the idea it is not difficult even it may first look like it.

Please respect the rules this little society has, as the rules are here only to make our lives easier.

    Thank you.

    3. Have read, but my photo came direct from my computer I did not use a free photo internet company am I supposed to, not sure what is going on here?

ADMIN: As described in the entry you need to get yourself a photo host in order to post images. I recommend Ovi, link is on the left sidebar. It is free.

When you “post from your computer” you host the image in SAT’s file space and as no one else is not allowed to do it… SAT is a democracy, we all are treated the same (only I can use the file space for administratoral purposes – as I am the admin).

I red this too. Do I need to put smaller pics?

ADMIN: No, your image size hasn’t been too big and you also use external host so you have nothing to worry. 🙂

    5. Read and understood.

Yes, I have been using Flickr. I can upload my picture and post to the blog directly from Flickr. Flickr doesn’t get the post tags right (or sometimes the spacing), so I always go to the blog and edit the post to make it look right. But it is very easy to do.

Read and understood. I’ve been linking the thumbnails to pics in my blog – that’s okay, right?

ADMIN: As long as you host your images outside of SAT blog. 🙂

I’m sorry, I thought it was being stored on my own account. I will try to fix it tomorrow.

Read-I use photobucket, so I think I am okay. If not, please let me know!
